Burglary, Aldridge Road Villas, London W11 05-11-09, 4 Flats broken into in a converted house
Once again, the burglars had the upper hand, large converted Victorian house situated in the Notting Hill Gate area of London. The main communal door was fitted with an intercom system which had no security whatsoever. As if you think about it you only have to press a button to allow the door to be opened. This involves a small electrical current, releasing the mechanism on the Lock. A potential burglar is fully aware that one good run at the door, it will open, then he has got 4 Flats all empty as the occupiers were at work etc. In this case.
The doors were fitted with high security locks that were made redundant as the wooden doors and wooden doorframes could not withstand the attack.
The only solution is steel frames and steel doors, our TITAN range are perfect as they are designed to keep burglars out, but also to look and feel like a quality wooden door.
This time the other houses in Aldridge Road Villas London W11 were lucky, but no doubt these burglars will return to this street as they were so successful this time. So I would urge anybody reading this to seriously consider replacing their door and doorframe as at the moment locking your door is a complete waste of time.
This is a list of a few more burglaries that we were called to in the last few days. Each of these burglaries had their wooden doors forced open
